Our Journey

Amethyst Changemakers began in 2020 as Math4Allabilities, a club founded by Amritha Praveen with the mission of making math accessible to students of all abilities. What started as a focused effort to support students in math quickly grew as we recognized a deeper need for inclusivity across all STEM disciplines. True STEM inclusion could not be achieved without educating students to embrace and support their peers with disabilities. Hence, the club expanded and rebranded as Amethyst Changemakers.

Mission

Our mision is to empower all students to thrive in STEM by championing inclusion and advocating for diverse, accessible education for everyone regardless of their abilities, identities and background.

The Issue

Many students, especially those with different abilities or from underrepresented backgrounds, face significant barriers in accessing quality STEM education. These barriers limit opportunities for diverse voices and talents to contribute to innovation and progress in STEM fields.

Our Approach

We break down these barriers by developing accessible learning tools, advocating for inclusive policies, and fostering a global network of changemakers.

Amethyst Changemakers places Top 10 at Celebrating High School (CHS) Innovators Competition!

On April 12th, 2025 the Amethyst Changemakers team had the opportunity to present their pitch at the CHS Innovators competition in Wesleyan, Illinois. The Illinois Wesleyan University hosted the 2025 CHS Innovators competition, and after the first round of judging, Amethyst Changemakers was announced as one of the Top 10 teams. We are so grateful for the opportunity to be able to talk to experienced judges and explain our pitch idea to them!

Amethyst Changemakers is extremely happy to announce that 3M has generously provided a grant of $2000 to Amethyst Changemakers, as part of the 3M Alumni Grant program. This money will be used to create accessible STEM kits, so that we are able to donate STEM kits to schools, free of cost.
